Compensation: $40,000- $50,000

Kismet Kombucha is hiring a Lead Brewer.  Our first year in the small batch, craft kombucha world, has shown sizable growth and limitless potential.  With a supportive regional following, Kismet has fostered new relationships for even wider distribution.

Job Summary: The Lead Brewer is responsible for managing the kombucha brewing process from start to finish. This includes preparing the ingredients, monitoring the fermentation process, and maintaining the equipment. The Lead Brewer will also be responsible for ensuring quality control and consistency of the final product.

Lead Brewer job duties and responsibilities include:
 

  • Positively represent Kismet brand in all environments

  • Prepare ingredients for kombucha brewing

  • Monitor fermentation process and adjust as needed

  • Executing production operations including: brewing, conditioning, racking, and canning

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work area to food safety standards

  • Provide operational maintenance including minor repairs and basic equipment checks

  • Manage inventory of supplies and ingredients

  • Conduct quality control tests to ensure consistency and taste of the final product

  • Create new flavors and recipes

  • Work with management to develop and implement standard operating procedures

  • Train and manage other staff members on kombucha brewing process

  • Maintain accurate records of production and inventory; including procedural logs and process documentation

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
 

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Prior experience in kombucha brewing or similar food/beverage production

  • Knowledge of brewing equipment and sanitation practices

  • Ability to understand equipment and make small repairs

  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain accurate records

  • Strong attention to detail and quality control

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Flexibility to work varying shifts as needed

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

     

Working Conditions: The Lead Brewer will primarily work in a production facility. The work environment can be hot and humid due to the fermentation process. The Lead Brewer may also be required to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, to ensure timely production and delivery of products. Personal protective equipment may be required when working with chemicals or cleaning equipment.
